Description

There are 7 bigger Cottages at Minniborgir that are 80 sq m or 860 sq ft. These larger houses, are with comfortable beds for up to 9 persons, offer all the amenities expected in a comfortable house: Gas BBQ, a hot tub, a living room with comfortable seating, two warm-water showers, a fully equipped kitchen with dish washing machine, a large refrigerator with a freezer, a good electric cooking stove and dinner table and tableware for up to 12 persons. High-quality mattresses are in the beds, two television sets and more. On top of that, every house has free wireless internet connection.
Restaurant was open in summer 2014. Guest can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the restaurant is also the reception for check in.

The place is infested with Lúsmý (Ceratopogonidae) during July and the landlords do not provide any service at all regarding the issue. No fans, no afterbites, no repellent - nothing. We had to flee after two nights since we couldn't stay there anymore even though we took all measures into our own hands.
Aside from that, there are more minor issues e.g. only 6 chairs to sit on and dine even though you can rent it for 8 people, the hot tub only has 2 settings (either 38 or 41) so it's hard to control it on warmer days, snacks/breadcrumbs on the floor when we arrived and something more that I forgot.
When I told the staff about this all I got was "So what, I'm also bitten and there's nothing we can do about it. If you came here and there was no sun during your stay, would you also complain in that case?" Well, the owner said that the next time we would come he would give us a 15% discount if we ordered dinner at their restaurant.
What a nice compensation, that will surely heal the +50 bites I received.
Never going there again during the season, so if you do, be prepared to be bitten.

Come on are you kidding? Most Icelanders know about Lúsmý, it has been in the news for last 3 years.
You think we should repay you cause you got bidden? Come on.

Maybe you should not travel at country side this time of year, cause this bugs leave after August...

Nice place and extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Beware of the midges however (in June, anyway)!

Excellent property, excellent location, friendly staff. Hot tub was really clean, as was rest of the cabin. will definitely be coming back.

Við gistum í 3 nætur í 80fm húsi - dvölin gat ekki verið betri. Höfum áður verið í litlu húsunum með hópum og getum algerlegt mælt með því líka.

Frábær staður.

Great but need to lubricate hinges and locks on the doors. Jacuzzi was great:-)

We loved the area, the layout is wonderful- private yet community based. Number 5 where we stayed was spacious and comfortable and the 5 of us had plenty of room to spread out and entertain our guests comfortably even though the weather was less than desirable. We would have liked a washing machine in the house for our own use rather than a communal arrangement. We are happy to leave the unit tidy and clean but felt the total clean of bathroom and washing the floors a bit much for the price we paid.

Gistum í þessu fína húsi um páskana 2011. Frábær aðbúnaður og rúmgott hús. Við vorum 6 fullorðnir og 4 börn og fór vel um okkur öll.
