Description

Gilsbakki is a 60 sqm summer house. The house stands quite high and in the wilderness on the way out to Hvalvatnsfjörður. A fireplace is in the house to warm it up, which is extremely romantic in this beautiful place. The house has 3 bedrooms with beds for two. The living room has a white leather sofa. Beds and pillows are for six people, but guests must bring a bedclothes with them along with towels, towels and rags. There is a kitchen table for 6-8 people. Tableware is for 6 people. On the platform outside the house there is a grill and 4 chairs to sit and admire the spectacular view from this cottage.

The turnoff into Hvalvatnsfjörður is right outside Grenivík. When you get to the turnoff, drive for about 5 minutes before the house appears, which is black in color. You have to go through a gate when you drive into Hvalvatnsfjörður and then before you get to the house you have to go through two gates again, which have to be opened because they are usually closed. 30 min. Driving is to Akureyri and 50-60 min. drive to Húsavík. Grenivík has an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub. There is a supermarket there, called Jónsabúd.

Directions:
Gilsbakki is in Grýtubakka district. From Leirunesti in Akureyri it is approx. 30? 35 minutes drive to the house.
If people come from Reykjavík, they have to drive through Akureyri and out of town to the other end. You drive towards Húsavík or as if the journey is called east towards land. Take a left turn at the so-called Leirunesti before leaving Akureyri. From there, drive along a route that runs for approx. 10-15 minutes. Then you come to a branch marked Grenivík and it goes to the left. There you turn and drive again as the road passes the Old Town in Laufás. Then you come to a bridge that crosses Fnjóská. When you cross the bridge, turn left and drive for a few minutes. Then you will see the farms on the right, Hléskógar, Pólarhestar, Grýtubakki 1 and then Grýtubakki 3 on the right. The next turnoff on the right is Hvalvatnsfjörður and there you drive around the road until Svart sumerhús appears on the right.
