Grýtubakki 2

Description

Grýtubaki 2 is a 45 sqm cottage. The house stands above the main farm and has 2 - 3 bedrooms, each with beds for two. Beds and pillows are for six people, Bed sheets, Duvet covers and pillowcases are provided.
There is a kitchen table for 6 people. Tableware is for 6 people. A little balcony invites to linger and enjoy the spectacular view from this cottage.
Directions:Grýtubakki 2 is in Grýtubakky district. From Akureyri it is approx. 35 minutes drive to the house..Guests coming from Reykjavík have to drive through Akureyri and towards Húsavík until you come to the roundabout in front of the tunnel. Take the second exit ( left) in the roundabout and follow the signs for Grenivík. After about 12 -15 more minutes you have once again to turn left, always direction Grenivík. Follow this road along the fjord again for 10 to 12 minutes passing by the old turf museum of Laufás with the little church, crossing the bridge over the river Fnjóská and turn again left. After a few minutes you will see the first farm to the right, Hléskógar. Grýtubakki 2 is the next one. There is also a sign - Pólar Hestar - with a picture of a horse on a red backgroound, as here we are offering short and long riding tours all year round.

Grenivík, a small village of about 250 inhabitants has an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub. Jónsabúd is the well known supermarket with all you need!
A gas station is close by and also a station to fill up your electric car.
The village also houses a small restaurant called Kontórinn.

From here you have a great choice of hiking trails with stunning views. During summer time Keli Seatours offers adventoures whale watching excursion and if you are ready for some more action: Ask for kayak tours at Cape Tours.

The historic waterfall Goðafoss is only about 40 minutes away. The well-known volcanic area of lake Mývatn is 90 minutes away.
