The house is well appointed, clean, and comfortable, and the owner was helpful and communicative. The house is 25 minutes off the Ring Road, and half of that 25 minutes is on an unpaved road. The owner did not provide information about how to find the house until we called him (which was late at night and we were tired), so other reviewers reported it was hard to find. It is actually really easy to find once you have the directions- go to the sign where the neighborhood starts, drive up the hill, and at the top of the hill, the road turns right. After the road turns right, make your first left and the house is right there. Once we found the house we had a very nice stay!

We spent a three nights in this cabin. Great starting point for daily trips in south of Iceland. Place itself has a good location as we value privacy and own space but it is just a short drive to nearest grocery or swimming pool, it is spacious, clean and very cozy, me and my family loved it! It?s also very well equipted, we loved our stay.

It was a really nice stay and we would come back :) the only thing is, that the sign how you reach the house should be a bit better to see. But that?s the only thing :)

The Hekla Summerhouse was a little hard to find. The GPS with my rental car did not accept the coordinates given. Staying a number of days, I expected there would be trash and recycle bins. There were none so we packed garbage in our vehicles every day. There were large piles of dirt around the house foundations for an apparent foundation project. A door had been added for an exit from the bathroom that could not be locked. We packed some items in our cars every day because the house could not be locked. Good news includes a wonderful location and the house was a very nice place to stay!
