Charming cottage by the pond.
Our cosy cottage is only 42km from Reykjavík but feels fantastically remote. Exceptional location, great views over the pond and surrounding mountains. A great place to relax and enjoy nature or as a base to explore south and west part of Iceland. I´ts also a perfect place to relax and enjoy everything that the cottage has to offer.

INSIDE:
Eyjatjörn cottage is 45 m2 and decorated with care. Two bedrooms, cozy living room, dining area, restroom and an outdoor shower. The kitchen is well equipped with big refrigerator and a two span cooker. There is also an outside cooking area equipped with gas BBQ.

IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD:
The county is called Kjós, which means in the shelter of mountains. The scenery is extremely beautiful and scenic. The fjord, Hvalfjörður (whale fjord) is where the only whale station in Iceland is. In our area there are wonderful hiking trails.
For bird enthusiasts then this is a good place to be. If the season in right tenants can pick berries.

EXPLORE:
The location is just great for day-tours to see all of the major attractions in south and west Iceland, including the Golden circle which is within 30 minutes away.

- Þingvellir: 30 min.
- Laugavatn, Fontana geothermal spa: 50 min.
- Geysir / Gullfoss (Golden circle) 70 min. + 10
- Borganes town: 30 min. (outdoor swimming pool, stores, gas)
- Snæfellsjokull: 2 hours

We provide directions to the cottage before arrival and information where to pick up the key.

HOSE RULES:
1. Check in is after 4pm and checkout at noon unless otherwise agreed upon.
2. Please leave the house as you found it and take care of it while staying there. This house is our pride and joy.
3. Smoking is not allowed inside the house.
4. Please report any damage that might occur ? we will not charge normal mishaps, just want to know for possible replacement and/or repair.
5. Be careful while using candle light.
6. Please follow the guidelines given for securing the house upon departure.

Cosy place especially in stormy weather. The host were verry helpefull and responded directly when we had a problem in the cottage.

A very special experience to spend time in this magical place so far from the noise and bustle of daily life. Comfortable without being fussy, lovingly decorated, all one needs but not a bit more than that! The sound of utter silence interrupted only by bird song, rustling leaves. One could sit on that delightful porch for a lifetime and just absorb the view and the quiet. The hosts were attentive and accommodating, and sensitive to the needs of guests. If we are lucky, we will be back next year. Thank you.

Frábær staður, sérstaklega fyrir fjölskyldur! Dásamlegt að komast frá sjónvarpi og nettengingu, kenna krökkunum um fuglana í kring, og njóta kyrrðarinnar. Mjög fallega innréttaður bústaður með öllum nauðsynjum. Við myndum glaðlega gista þar aftur. :)

We adored our stay at your beautiful cottage. The privacy of the house was just what we were looking for. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in a beautiful location.

The cottage is homely and the owners pay attention to a lot of details. It is a perfect place to relax and it is nice to shower with sheeps around and swans on the lake.
We are not big fans of induction cookers, but for one week it was okay.
The path down from the road and the garden have a interesting wild flair. In general all is pleasently clean.
The range of table games and maps is amazing and the pillows as well as the tableware is very diverse and beautiful.

Eyjatjörn er algjör perla og dásamlegur fjölskyldustaður. Börnin elskuðu litlu bryggjuna, drullumallið, eldstæðið og trampólínið. Mátulega mikil þægindi og útisturtan hressandi. Frábær staður fyrir fuglaskoðun, fínar gönguleiðir og stutt í veiði. Allir komu friðsælir og endurnærðir heim. Fimm stjörnur :)

Beautiful cottage and garden in amazing landscape. Eyjatjörn is also a mystic place for kids - they missed the swans and outdoor shower. We enjoyed our stay and would return any time.

The cottage is tastefully decorated and beautiful. It is very cozy. There is everything you need to enjoy a wonderful holiday. from the terrace there is a magnificent view of the pond and the mountains.

We had the best experience renting this cottage. Jon and GiGi were fantastic and took excellent care of us, even providing great suggestions about things to do on our trip. The cottage was beautiful. A super setting and close to so many things to do. We had a lamb BBQ at the house and we so enjoyed the outdoor shower!! It was such an unexpected perk. We would go there again in a second!!

Æðislegur bústaður og staðsetning, stutt frá bænum og allt til staðar í bústaðnum. Eini mínusinn sem við getum sett út á er að engin sturtuaðstaða er ( úti sturta :) en sundlaus stutt frá. Ætlum okkur að koma aftur ekki spurning:)

Lovely location, great views over the lake, surrounding mountains and bird life. The ultimate place to rest and come at ease. Very peaceful and quiet. The outside shower was a true experience. We saw an Arctic Fox, thought the binoculars that were in the house. We would like to go back there.

Lovely house and location. Outdoor shower is strange but fine to use (you have to connect a hose to the kitchen sink through the window to get it to work). Electric induction hob is fine but kept tripping the electrics (as did the electric heaters; wiring is definitely a bit dodgy). Old stove shown in pictures is just for show, you cannot use it, but there is a chimnea outside if you are looking forward to a wood fire.

Lovely little bungalow, fantastic location and spectacular views. Owner is very helpful and friendly. Notice that the kitchen consists only of one hot plate with no oven. The outside gas grill can be used as a nice supplement if weather allows. We stayed there 4 nights with our two kids and they loved the area outside including the trampoline.

Beautiful little cottage - heaters turned on so it was lovely and warm when we got there. Felt really homely and cosy in the winter. The landscape and location was outstanding, close to Reykjavik, but felt fantastically remote. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights from the back of the cottage and had a wonderful display for about 2 hours (was great to be able to go back straight into bed after watching them in complete solitude)... Would love to go back and would definitely recommend =)

charming small house, well equiped in nice nature surrounding. The only neighbours were some sheeps, horses and birds. good Location to visit the south Highlights and Hvalfjördur. We loved it! no Problem that there was no shower in the house as there was a garden shower with warm water Connection.

Really nice place to stay.

The outside shower may not be for everybody (specially when it is windy). But it's fun if you like it.

The inside house is very confortable.

Þetta er ævintýralegur lítill bústaður á fallegum stað. Allt fullt af heillandi og hlýlegum smáatriðum, dýrgripir úr náttúrunni á pallinum, tímaritin, lýsingin, tónlistin og útisturtan. Trampólínið og drullumallsaðstaðan er svo endalaus skemmtun fyrir krakkana.

We had a wonderful 4 days at Eyjatjörn. The cabin is truly beautiful, and the view is even better. A perfect location. It's clear that Jon and the family have put a lot of work into the property with more still to come. The outside shower was fun too!

Þessi yndislegi litli bústaður lætur lítið yfir sér en er ævintýralegur. Staðsetningin við tjörnina, gróðurinn, fuglalífið og heimatilbúna útisturtan, allt virkar þetta svo einstaklega vel saman. Veðrið sem við fengum var fullkomið og gerði dvölina okkar draumkennda. Eyjatjörn er paradís :)

Afar sjarmerandi og notalegur bústaður í fallegum skógarlundi innréttaður á einstaklega smekklegan hátt. Fuglalífið er fjölskrúðugt, flóran fjölbreytt og í fjarska voru hestar og sauðfé á beit. Get ekki hugsað mér það betra!

The is a wonderful place, with a marvelous decoration and a gorgeous landscape. We particularly liked watching at the birds on the pond, jumping on the trampoline and drinking a Vicking beer on the terrace. But where is the bathroom ?

Átti stórgóða og kósý helgi í Eyjatjörn. Ótrúlega sjarmerandi bústaður sem kom skemmtilega á óvart, frábært útsýni og stutt í alla þjónustu í kaffi kjós. Eina sem vantar er sturta, en maður skellir sér bara í sund á leiðinni heim.

Við áttum 3 ljúfa daga í þessum fallega bústað. Staðsetningin er frábær og umhverfið í kring býður upp á fjölbreytta náttúruskoðun, afslöppun á pallinum og trampólínhopp fyrir krakkana. Helstu gallarnir eru sturtuleysi og að maður þarf á endanum að fara heim.
