Description
Ours is a log lodge built by owner in the year 2000 using logs imported from Finland. It is 90 sq meters (3000 sq feet) on 2 floors with 3 bedrooms and sleeps 8 adults. It sits on the lower slopes of a small mountain with a magnificent view over river below and the mountain range afar.
A hot water tub is on the large patio that surrounds the house. We try to keep it working through but cannot guarantee it. winter,

A truly lovely home with breathtaking views, both of the cliffs behind the house, as well as the jetty and Borgarnes. The home was easy to find but I imagine it would be difficult to reach in winter. Additionally, it lives up to its name of "Windy World" with the winds howling around the cabin at all hours of the day. This shouldn't discourage you, though, as it was a beautifully cozy cabin with all of the amenities one needs, as well as plenty of space. The hot tub worked well but the shower is a bit dated and the drain does not drain well, either. Other than the shower, it is a perfect place to stay.

What a fantastic cottage in a stunning setting! Very convenient to Bogarnes in case you need more groceries or supplies, but far enough out of town that it's a rural setting with amazing views of the rocky cliffs behind the cottage and the estuary in front. Karl was incredibly helpful in answering questions via email almost instantly. The cottage is well appointed with plenty of towels and bed linens, and the geothermal heat was great in all the rooms. We couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

Very well equipped, big and nice bungalow in a fantastic surrounding. On the one hand the view to the mountains and on the other to the seaside. We enjoyed our stay and the view very much.
One disappointment: we could't use the hot pot, because some undefined white mud or slime was pumped up with the water in the time we stayed there.

This is a lovely house, we stayed in a cold January and were very warm. The hot tub was lovely although it is interesting to run out to in -14C, no problems coming back in. We were lucky to have clear nights and spent some time admiring the Milky Way. We were also lucky to to see the Northern Lights despite the town lights.
The track up to the house was very difficult in the snow, we ended up leaving the 4x4 at the bottom of the track.
Having a small dishwasher was wonderful, my only wish was for for more mugs which we prefer to use rather than cups.

Fantastic Home with a Great View!
We stayed at this beautiful bungalow for 2 nights in August. We chose this location because we were on our way from a few days in the Golden Circle to Akureyri and had friends flying in on this same day, so it was convenient for everyone. Karl, the owner was very communicative and helpful. He was also very understanding when we realized we had made a mistake on the reservation.
The home was in an absolutely beautiful spot! We spend our two nights on the deck with the kids in the hot tub. We found everything we needed to cook in the evenings too - there were just enough kitchen items to make it very convenient. The rooms and linens were perfect!
Overall a great place to stay - I highly recommend it! Thank you again Karl for sharing your slice of Iceland with us!
Best wishes,
Amy, Steve, Sienna & Sophia Austermiller

The view of the meandering waters from the breakfast table is astounding!!! The place was quite cozy and had a well-equipped kitchen. We were able to cook meals in at night. They had a few spices and oils for cooking, which was very helpful. We had long cold days, but this cabin was very warm and welcoming each evening.
The two bedrooms have dark shades which is helpful for the long days....the single bed in the hallway between the two rooms does not have a shade so it's bright there always...a third room on the first floor has a sofa...pull out, if needed, I believe it is a dark room as well.
We did not have time to try the hot tub, but it appears you may have to fill it yourself, ask about that. From Reykjavik it is an hour drive but the drive is breathtaking and you are in the right location to take a trip around the Golden Circle.
FYI: Between Reykjavik and Alfabrekka you have to pass through a 6km lighted tunnel under the water which costs $10 each time. My boys enjoyed the tunnel...we had to pass through 5 times in our 3 days there. We would do it again! There is a small inset (almost a small cave) on the hill behind the cabin that might be of interest for climbing, a very small water fall is visible on the mountain. We did not see a better location for a cabin on the island from Alfabrekka all the way to Vik! So glad we stayed here!
You will not be disappointed here.

This is a fantastic beautiful home, very comfortable, very well equiped, super location and a great spot for watching the Aurora. I would highly recommend and we thoroughtly enjoyed our stay. It was great to catch the sunset from Borgarnes harbour and then see the Aurora over the town later. We were very lucky with the weather - all days bright sun and clear skies made the scenery sparkle - great for photos.

This property is set in some stunning landscape overlooking a river and with amazing views from the veranda. It is extremely comfortable, well-equipped and accommodated our family of five very well for two weeks. It is well placed to explore West Iceland, has easy access to Reykjavik and acts as a great base for exploring further afield. Equally, it is 5 minutes from Borgarnes which has two supermarkets and other stores to make self-catering very accessible. The owners were very attentive and helpful with making our stay enjoyable.

We, a family of 5, booked this cottage because we wanted some where to stay in the West that was not too far from the airport for the final three days of our Iceland holiday. It was fantastic and just what we were after. Great views from the decking and the hot tub; lovely homely feel throughout, comfortable beds and a great location from which to explore. Thoroughly recommended.
