ABOUT SKAGASTROND, NORTH WEST ICELAND
Skagastrond is a small village in a beautiful peaceful area. From the Cottage/Cabin is a view over the Village, the Sea and the Mountains.
Take a walk and enjoy the clean air, the peace and quiet surroundings. The nature is on your doorstep.
You can also walk to the sea shore, watch seals and listen to the birds or take a walk on the cliff/rock Spakonufellshofdi behind the cottage and have a beautiful view over the bay Hunafloi, or you can walk to the top of the Mountain Spakonufellsborg. The view is amazing. A marked trail runs to the top of the mountain from the farm Brandaskarð. Or you can walk around the mountain. Spakonufell is one of the most impressive mountain in this area. It is 646 m high. The name of the mountain derives from Thordis the prophetess who lived on a farm of the same name as the mountain, situated by its roots in the 10th century. She was the first person to settle in Skagastrond.
Selavikurtangi is about 40 km north of Skagastrond at Kaldranavik. Just out from the shore at a distance of about 40 - 50 m you can see seals at as they lie sprawled on the reefs and gaze with curiosity into the eyes of the tourists. They can be very numerous.
HOW TO GET HERE
With car all the way.
There is a bus every day from the Capital Reykjavik to Skagastrond. Need to order seat at www.straeto.is From Skagastrond you can go to other Villages in the North or to the beautiful town Akureyri. It is best to rent a car to be able to travel around. If you go by bus to Akureyri you have to stay over night. Easy to find the route on Google map. If you are travelling in Iceland at wintertime, it is better to rent 4WD.

Nice cabin in a nice location ! For 2 or 4 people is good. However, a bit more expensive compare to what we had in Iceland (for the same price much bigger and more amenities).

The cabin is very nice, clean and there are so many neccesities for dayli life, like washingmachine, coffemachine , dishes , foot items and more. The surrounding landscape is beautifull. The hosts are very friendly and helpfully. We liked the Time there very much.

As we travelled throughout Iceland, we discovered that there are many of these very compact cottages with the same design. So this one has one bedroom, with just enough room for a double mattress, a bathroom with shower, a kitchen/living area with some sofa beds and a loft for more sleeping. This one was very well equipped--there is no oven -- but with a microwave. It has a wonderful view of the little village, and right behind it is a stone outcropping that overlooks the ocean. It has well marked paths along the outcropping with informational markers about the various native birds. I suppose we could have jumped the fence to climb the outcropping, but instead we simply walked down the road a bit to find a marked trail. The hosts were very wonderful and honorable people. (There was an issue with double booking by another website, and our hosts worked very hard to accommodate us.) We had all we needed or could have wanted in this cottage.

During our trip in Iceland we wanted to stay off the beaten track. This place perfectly suits to this. In this wooden cottage you can find everything you need except oven. Remember - 2 people in this cottage can feel comfortable but if more comes it can be problem with their luggage.

Yndislegt lítið hús - þjónustuaðlar til fyrirmyndar - ógleymanleg fjallasýn og dásamlegur fuglasöngur.
Takk fyrir okkur :-)

Wonderful little cabin on a hill overlooking the town with everything you might need including a small washer. The house was immaculate and charming. Be sure to check out the spectacular views just over the stone ridge in back. Highly recommended.
